If not for Shimon Peres’s intervention, prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and defense minister Ehud Barak were planning to bomb Iran's nuclear sites, the former Israeli president revealed confidentially to high-ranking staff members of the Jerusalem Post in August 2014, one month after Peres had resigned from his post. When asked by the editor-in-chief who had established a close relationship with Peres whether he was allowed to publish that remark, Peres reportedly replied with a wry smile: Only after my death.
Shimon Peres who is considered as the architect of Israel’s nuclear program died only two weeks ago.
